WAM Theatre honored as ‘Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation’
Lenox — WAM Theatre was honored as an “Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation” by the National Philanthropy Day Committee of the Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals at a luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. The award recognizes WAM Theatre for demonstrating outstanding commitment through financial support and through encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.

MASS MoCA wins grants for educational programs
North Adams — In support of its educational programming, MASS MoCA has won two highly competitive grants totaling $279,191 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The awards fall under the grant categories of “Learning Experiences” ($138,651) and “Community Anchors” ($140,540), and serve as recognition of the museum’s expanding role in community engagement and student learning.
MASS MoCA received support for its four-year “Art 4 Change” program, in partnership with six local elementary schools, as a “Learning Experiences” initiative that engages partner students in arts-centric conversations and activities to enhance problem-solving skills. Recognizing the museum’s commitment to its local community, the “Community Anchors” award supports “A Responsive Museum,” a two-year award that will engage the local community around exhibitions with socially relevant content. Year One of the grant will focus on the exhibition “Nick Cave: Until,” which reflects on issues of gun violence, race relations, and identity.

Greylock announces new supervisory committee member

Pittsfield — Greylock Federal Credit Union has announced the appointment of Isa F. Ali to its volunteer supervisory committee by its board of directors. Ali takes the place of Jean A. Doak, who recently retired from the committee after serving for 25 years.
Since 2013, Ali has been the owner and operator of Celerity Properties in Pittsfield. From 2002 to the present, he has been the owner and operator of Ali Enterprises, a business consulting company in Dalton. He also serves as a board member on the Dalton Development and Industrial Commission. He is a 2010 graduate of Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history. He received a master’s degree in contemporary art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London, in 2013.
