South Lee – Ozzie’s Glass Gallery will host a weekend of events to celebrate its grand opening. A reception on Friday, August 5, from 5 – 8 p.m. will feature artists Karen Farkas, Michael Paul King, Nicole Webster Clark, Barbara Tracy and Auron Stark and include light refreshments. Live glass-blowing demonstrations will take place on Saturday, August 6, and Sunday, August 7. All events are free and open to the public.

Gallery owner Mike Ozner (Ozzie) began working with glass at age 16 during a fateful trip to a glass-blowing facility in West Stockbridge when he assisted an artist in the wake of an absent apprentice. While working with soft glass in furnace shops, Ozzie was introduced to another type of glass blowing called lampwork. When the nearby furnace facilities closed, Ozzie was able to continue creating glass art in the form of lampworking. He currently lives in Becket and is an active member of the Becket Volunteer Fire Department.

For more information, call the Gallery at (413) 822-4830.
