Bruno L. Balestro Jr., 80, of Great Barrington

A memorial aervice for Bruno L. Balestro Jr. will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Corpus Christi Church with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating.

Bruno L. Balestro Jr., 80, of Great Barrington died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bruno was born in Great Barrington on April 28, 1943, son of the late Bruno Sr. and Jennie M. (Koldys) Balestro. He was a graduate of the former Williams High School in the class of 1960.

After graduation, Bruno proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam. Bruno worked as a hair stylist for 25 years at Bruno and Company in Lenox and then as a truck driver for Great River Construction for over 10 years. In his spare time, Bruno enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bruno is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Veighey) Balestro of Great Barrington, whom he married on April 1, 1969 at St. Anne’s Church in Chicopee; his twin sons, Kevin Balestro and wife Lisa of Egremont and Kristopher Balestro and wife Darlene of Sarasota, Fla.; his sister, Nancy A. Balestro of Georgia; and four granddaughters, Caitlin, Sarah, Chelsea, and Madison. Bruno was predeceased by his brother, Robert J. Balestro.

A memorial aervice for Bruno L. Balestro Jr. will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Corpus Christi Church with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Bruno’s memory may be made to the Cancer Center in Pittsfield or Berkshire Humane Society in care of the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Condolences may be made through the funeral home’s website.

A small, intimate gathering for close family and friends will be held at Birches-Roy Funeral Home on Monday March 9, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A private burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
