The Foundry presents Tipsy Carol’s ‘Valentine Massacre’ sing-along

West Stockbridge— On Friday, February 9th at 7:30 p.m., The Foundry presents Tipsy Carol’s “Valentine Massacre” sing-along.

You’re invited to a “Valentine Massacre” sing-along with Tipsy Carol aka McBoozie. Come hear and sing songs that bring back your mojo and heal your heartache. There will be games, giveaways, laughs, and surprises. Bring a date or find one at the show!

Bennington Theater presents ‘Love Reigns Supreme,’ a Gypsy Layne Valentine’s burlesque show

Bennington, Vt.— On Friday, February 9th and Saturday, February 10th at 7 p.m., Bennington Theater presents “Love Reigns Supreme,” a Gypsy Layne Valentine’s burlesque show.

Gypsy Layne Cabaret & Co. has been captivating audiences for over a decade with its playful sexiness, cheeky comedy, tuneful musicality, alluring belly dance, astounding swordplay, and dynamic group numbers. Their mission is to highlight burlesque as a vehicle for self-expression and self-empowerment, promoting self-acceptance and body positivity.

The show is on Friday, February 9th and Saturday, February 10th at 7 p.m., Bennington Theater on Main Street in Bennington, Vt. Ventfort Hall presents ‘Songs in the Cycle of Love,’ a Valentine’s concert and tea with Sherri Buxton and Bob Shepherd

Lenox— On Sunday, February 11th at 3:30 p.m., Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum  presents ‘Songs in the Cycle of Love,’ a Valentine’s concert and tea with Sherri Buxton and Bob Shepherd.

This program takes the audience through a variety of relationships including first love, family, friends, and finding that special someone. Singer Sherri James Buxton and pianist Bob Shepherd perform a variety of songs from The Great American Songbook, Broadway, and cabaret.

Sherri James Buxton has appeared in Broadway and off-Broadway productions, and has performed with Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and Kansas City Starlight Theatre. Locally she has appeared at the Pittsfield Jazz Festival, The Colonial Theatre, Norman Rockwell Museum, Berkshire Athenaeum, Gateways Inn, Mission Bar and Tapas, Castle Street Café, and Seven Hills Inn. Buxton teaches at Berkshire Music School where her popular cabaret workshop is in its 20th season. She will be accompanied by Bob Shepherd, who has been a working pianist in New England for 70 years. 

The concert is on Sunday, February 11th at 3:30 p.m., at Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum on Walker Street in Lenox. A lovely tea will follow the program. Tickets are $45. Tickets and more information can be found online or by calling 413-637-3206.

The Foundry presents ‘Affairs of the Heart,’ stand-up comedy and storytelling workshop with award-winning comedian Mina Hartong

West Stockbridge— On Friday, February 9th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Foundry presents ‘Affairs of the Heart,’ a stand-up comedy and storytelling workshop with award-winning comedian Mina Hartong.

Broken up? Newly in love? Happily divorced? Still sharing a Netflix account with your ex? The theme is your “love life.” Participants will write a short stand-up set or story to share on stage at a student showcase on Sunday, February 11th at 1 p.m. You will learn flow, exposition, audience interaction, and joke structure to share the humor found in your “love life.” No experience is necessary.

The workshop is on Friday, February 9th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Foundry on Harris Street in West Stockbridge. The cost is $100. Registration and more information can be found online.

Award winning comedian Mina Hartong (Olivia Travel, Joe’s Pub, Burbank Comedy Festival, Provincetown) has been performing and touring for over twenty years. She hosts her own Comedy Show, “Lez Out Loud,” which just had its 10th sold-out show. She is also a member of the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab and a Jerome Arts Grant recipient.

The show is on Saturday, February 10th at 7:30 p.m. at The Foundry on Harris Street in West Stockbridge. The doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25. All workshop students receive one free ticket. The OLLI Distinguished Speakers Series presents ‘A Brief History of Love’ with Ilan Stavans

Pittsfield— On Monday, February 12th at 7 p.m., The OLLI Distinguished Speakers Series presents ‘A Brief History of Love’ with Ilan Stavans.

Who invented love? Does every culture understand it identically? How many varieties of love are there? Is love experienced differently at various stages of life? Internationally-renowned scholar Ilan Stavans surveys the permutations of what Robert Frost called “the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired.”

Ilan Stavans is the Lewis-Sebring Professor of Humanities, Latin American and Latino Culture at Amherst College, the publisher of Restless Books, and a consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary. His latest book is “The People’s Tongue: Americans and the English Language” (2023.)

The virtual talk is on Monday, February 12th at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Admission is $15, $10 for OLLI and Berkshire Museum members., and free for students, staff, and faculty from BCC, MCLA, Simon’s Rock, and Williams; youth ages 17 and under, and those holding WIC, EBT/SNAP, or ConnectorCare cards. The Springfield Museums presents ‘Love Under the Stars,’ a dazzling Valentine’s celebration

Springfield— On Wednesday, February 14th from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., The Springfield Museums presents ‘Love Under the Stars,’ a dazzling Valentine’s celebration. 

This first-of-its-kind event at the Museums will include a kaleidoscopic light and music show set to the sound of modern and nostalgic love songs, tours of the rooftop observatory, hands-on activities exploring the art and science of love, a photo booth, sweet and savory charcuterie, a cash bar, and more.

“We are thrilled to make Springfield Museums a destination for love this year!” said Jenny Powers, Director of the Science Museum. “We are extremely excited to provide a deeper Valentine’s Day experience, where you can have fun, learn new things, and create lasting memories with your loved ones.”

The 21+ event is on Wednesday, February 14th from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at The Springfield Museums located on the Quadrangle on Edwards Street in Springfield. Tickets are $35 or $25 for members.
