Chatham High School presents an electrifying production of ‘Grease’

Chatham, N.Y.— On Friday and Saturday, March 14th and 15th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 16th at 2 p.m., Chatham High School presents an electrifying production of “Grease.”

This high-energy musical has captivated audiences for decades. Take a trip back to Rydell High, where leather jackets, poodle skirts, and rock ‘n’ roll rule the scene. Follow the unforgettable love story of Danny and Sandy as they navigate friendships, heartbreak, and teenage dreams, all set to a soundtrack that will have you dancing in your seat.

The performances are on Friday and Saturday, March 14th and 15th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 16th at 2 p.m. at Chatham High School, located at 50 Woodbridge Avenue in Chatham, N.Y. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Stationery Factory presents The Slambovian Circus of Dreams 

Dalton— On Saturday, March 15th at 7:30 p.m., Stationery Factory presents The Slambovian Circus of Dreams. 

Voted “Best Band in New York” by Chronogram Magazine, this quirky cousin of Americana delivers a rootsy Woodstock-tinged psychedelia, powerful live shows, and connects with audiences for an unforgettable concert experience.

Inspired by Bob Dylan, David Bowie, and Neil Young, shaman-like lead singer Joziah Longo is joined by Tink Lloyd (accordion cello mandolin flute,) slide guitar wizard Sharkey McEwen, RJ McCarty (bass keys sax,) Bob Torsello (bass,) and Matthew Abourezk (drums.)

The concert is on Saturday, March 15th at 7:30 p.m. at The Stationery Factory, located at 63 Flansburg Avenue in Dalton. Tickets and more information can be found online.

Clark Art Institute and Mahaiwe performing Arts Center presents The Metropolitan Opera’s broadcast production of ‘Fidelio’

Williamstown/Great Barrington— On Saturday, March 15th at 1 p.m., the Clark Art Institute and the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center present The Metropolitan Opera’s broadcast production of “Fidelio.”

Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen returns to the Metropolitan Opera as Leonore, the faithful wife who risks everything to save her husband from the clutches of tyranny in Beethoven’s Beethoven’s “Fidelio.” Completing the distinguished cast is British tenor David Butt Philip as the political prisoner Florestan, Polish bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny as the villainous Don Pizarro, veteran German bass René Pape as the jailer Rocco, Chinese soprano Ying Fang and German tenor Magnus Dietrich as the young Marzelline and Jaquino, and Danish bass Stephen Milling as the principled Don Fernando. Susanna Mälkki conducts.

Becket Arts Center presents herbal workshop with Mariah Baca

Becket— On Saturday, March 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Becket Arts Center will present a herbal workshop with Mariah Baca.

This hands-on, family-friendly workshop will focus on white pine, from foraging for it to crafting natural herbal products from it. After a guided walk to sustainably collect fresh pine needles, participants will return to the arts center to transform the foraged materials into their own pine-based herbal creations of infused oils, soothing balms, and bath scrubs. This workshop is perfect for nature lovers of all ages interested in connecting with the land and deepening their knowledge of the nature around us.

The workshop is on Saturday, March 15th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Becket Arts Center, located at 7 Brooker Hill Road in Becket. All materials will be provided. Registration and more information can be found online.

Hopkins Memorial Forest Maple Fest

Williamstown— On Saturday, March 15th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Williams College presents the Hopkins Memorial Forest Maple Fest.

This event highlights the maple sugaring process, including tree tapping and wood splitting demonstrations, a chance to see the evaporator in action, syrup tastings, live music, and more.

The 2,600 acre forest, donated to the College in the 1930s by the family of Colonel Amos Lawrence Hopkins, has been actively managed by Williams College for teaching and research endeavors for more than 40 years. The forest also has an array of hiking and cross-country ski trails, a visitor center, an herb garden, and a maple sugaring operation.

The festival is on Saturday, March 15th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Memorial Forest, located at 271 NW Hill Road in Williamstown. Admission is free. More information can be found online.

Great Barrington Rotary scholarship application is open

Great Barrington— The Great Barrington Rotary 2025 Scholarship Applications are now available.

Applicants must be graduates of Mount Everett or Monument Mountain Regional High Schools, and planning on attending a college or technical school in the fall of 2025. Scholarships are for undergraduate programs only. Recipients are selected primarily on financial need with consideration of grades and extracurricular activities.

Vocational Scholarships named “Two for All” are available for students pursuing training in the trades and support technologies including healthcare, construction, automotive mechanics, and culinary arts. The William Dempsey Scholarship is designated for students pursuing vocational and engineering programs.

The applications can be found online.  The deadline to apply is April 23rd.
