‘Women and Their Olive Trees’ at the Berkshire Museum
Pittsfield — The Jewish Federation of the Berkshires will present the community exhibition “Women and Their Olive Trees” at the Berkshire Museum on Monday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 7. An opening reception will take place on Monday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibit is part of the Olive Tree Project, a year-long art program of the WIZO Afula Community Center in Afula, Israel that draws women artists from the Northern Israeli cities of Afula and Nazareth and the surrounding Arab villages.
The exhibit contains art by 40 Israeli women from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Four of the artists – two Jewish and two Muslim – will accompany the exhibit, which has been on tour throughout Europe.
The Olive Tree Project is one of a number of living bridge programs planned in the Berkshires as part of the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires’ newly established partnership with the Afula-Gilboa region of Northern Israel. For more information, call (413) 442-4360.

TEDxBerkshires 2016
Stockbridge – TEDxBerkshires will present its 2016 program, “The Good Life,” on Monday, June 13, from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.
Featured speakers for “The Good Life” include humorists and philosophers Daniel Klein and Thomas Cathcart; Ting Wu, head of Harvard Medical School’s Wu Genetics Lab; ring announcer Mike Markham; storyteller Judith Black; constitutional law professor Kermit Roosevelt; and Reverend Michael Tuck.

‘Splendor, Myth, and Vision’ preview
Lenox – Clark Art Institute Curatorial Assistant Genevieve Hulley will give a visual preview presentation of the Clark’s summer exhibition, “Splendor, Myth, and Vision: Nudes at the Prado,” on Tuesday, June 7, at 4 p.m. at Venfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum. Hulley’s talk will be followed by a Victorian tea.
Drawn from the collection of one of the world’s great museums, “Splendor, Myth, and Vision: Nudes from the Prado” – which opens on Saturday, June 11 – will present 28 exceptional paintings of the nude from the royal collections of the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid, Spain. Exploring the collecting tastes and display practices of several generations of Spanish royalty, the exhibition provides a fresh opportunity to examine major works by such artists as Titan, Guercino, Peter Paul Rubens, and Diego Velazquez, as well as the significant role of the nude within European art.
Genevieve Hulley is a member of the Clark’s curatorial team. Previously she was the Semmes Foundation intern in museum studies at the McNay Art Museum, San Antonio, Tex. She has a master’s degree in art history from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.

Meet-and-greet for Christine Canning
Great Barrington – On Tuesday, June 7, at 5:30 p.m. Great Barrington Republican Town Committee will meet in the Selectmen’s Room of the Town Hall, 334 Main St., to reorganize, discuss, and plan its upcoming meet-and-greet event for State Senate candidate Christine Canning. The meet-and-greet will take place from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, at Fiesta Bar and Grill. The event will include snacks and a cash bar.
