World premiere of ‘Tarzana’ closes out Mass Live Arts

Great Barrington —  Mass Live Arts presents the world premiere “Tarzana” by experimental theater company Radiohole July 23, July 24, and July 25 at 8 p.m. at the Daniel Arts Center.

A comic book that comes alive on the stage, “Tarzana” is a collaboration with award-winning playwright and screenwriter Jason Grote (“Mad Men”) who was commissioned by Radiohole to write text for the work. Influenced by filmmakers such as Alejandro Jodorowsky and David Lynch and the New York Punk scene of the 1970s and early 1980s, “Tarzana” unfolds in a hand-drawn landscape following the misadventures of a guilt-ridden Superman, Two Non-Blondes, and Robespierre.

Since Radiohole’s inception in a Brooklyn basement in 1998, the company has created more than 11 original works which have toured both nationally and internationally, and earned it a reputation as one of New York’s most tenacious and uncompromising ensembles.

Parental discretion is advised. For more information and to purchase tickets, see the Berkshire Edge calendar or Mass Live Arts’ website.
