Artists’ guild to offer studio tours
West Stockbridge — The Richmond-West Stockbridge Artists’ Guild has announced a day of tours of local artists’ studios on Saturday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tour will feature paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery and other works by 22 artists at 14 studio locations in central and southern Berkshire County. Artists will be on hand to show and talk about their work and many of the works will be for sale. Gregory Caputo Big Band to salute Buddy Rich

Lee — On Saturday, July 22, at 7 p.m., Berkshires Jazz Inc. will continue its summer of centennial tributes with a 100th birthday salute to iconic drummer Buddy Rich featuring the Gregory Caputo Big Band at the Lee Meeting House.
Drummer and bandleader Caputo serves as an ambassador for classic swing and big-band jazz. His drumming credits include stints with Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and others. He has recorded and performed with alto sax player Phil Woods and has performed with Billy Taylor’s Jazzmobile. An inductee into the National Jazz Archives, he is also on the faculty of UMass Amherst’s Jazz In July program.

JoAnne Spies, Doug Tanner to perform at Bascom Lodge


Adams — Singer-songwriter JoAnne Spies and special guest Doug Tanner will share songs old and new on the guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and chromatic harmonica at Bascom Lodge on Sunday, July 23, at 6 p.m.
Spies is a Berkshire-based musician known for her interactive shows. Her latest album, “Ecstatic Dances,” includes collaborations with hip-hop artist Jackson Whalan and musician and producer Robby Baier to create world music and songs for dancing, celebration and transformation. Tanner is a longtime musician with the Amherst-based Gypsy Wranglers and has been a judge for the world harmonica contest in Japan.

Geoffrey Young Gallery to host Bobby Houston

Great Barrington — On Saturday, July 22, at 5:30 p.m., the Geoffrey Young Gallery, 40 Railroad St., will host a presentation by writer, actor and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Bobby Houston. Houston will share stories from his checkered past against the backdrop of the Gallery’s current show, “Brave New Work,” which runs through Sunday, July 30, and features works by Natalia Afentoulidou, Catherine Haggerty, Christine Heindl, Michael Gellatly, Mary Chatham, Kelsey Shwetz, Nate Plotkin, Caris Reid, Marcy Sperry, Laura Murray, Stacie Johnson, Carly Glovinski, Marina Cappelletto, Kathleen O’Rourke, Geoffrey Todd Smith and James Benjamin Franklin.
