Women of Color Giving Circle and Rights of Passage & Empowerment to host a Kwanzaa celebration
Pittsfield— On Saturday, December 28th at 6 p.m., join the Women of Color Giving Circle and Rights of Passage & Empowerment (ROPE) for a vibrant and heartfelt Celebration of Kwanzaa, a time to honor African-American heritage, community, and the principles that strengthen and uplift us all.
Whether you’re celebrating Kwanzaa for the first time or have cherished this tradition for years, this event is a joyful and inclusive way to embrace the richness of culture, history, and community. Come, connect, and celebrate the values of family, culture, and self-determination that make Kwanzaa a powerful time of reflection and renewal. This special gathering welcomes individuals and families from all walks of life to experience the beauty and significance of this seven-day cultural tradition.
The evening will feature ceremonial lighting of the kinara, storytelling, music, dance, and an exploration of the Nguzo Saba, the seven guiding principles of Kwanzaa. Enjoy lively African dancers and drummers led by Noel Staples-Freeman, soulful performances by James Ryan and Abby Percy, and special guest jazz and blues singer Samirah Evans for an inspiring evening of unity.
Attendees will also be able to participate in a youth panel discussion”Where Do We Go From Here?” with panelists Roos Bajnath, Brian Annor-Baah, Ronny Brizan, Patrick Gordon, Olivia Nda, Sadiya Quetti, and Gloria Williams.
The celebration is on Saturday, December 28th at 6 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church of Pittsfield, located at 74 First Street in Pittsfield. There will be a t-shirt sale to support educational trips of ROPE students. There is a suggested donation at the door. More information can be found online.

Rainbow Seniors to host an intergenerational ‘Holigay’ party
Pittsfield— On Saturday December 28th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Rainbow Seniors will host an intergenerational ‘Holigay’ party, an evening of joy, connection, and holiday cheer.
This festive event is the perfect opportunity to gather with other LGBTQ+ folks of all ages, celebrate the holiday season, and build meaningful connections within our community. D.J. Pup Daddy will keep dance floor moving and there will be delicious food, lively conversation, and a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that celebrates all the vibrant colors of our Rainbow family.
