New Marlborough Meeting House presents New Marlborough’s second annual ‘One Town, One Read,’ a community book club
New Marlborough— On Saturday, July 26th at 4:30 p.m., New Marlborough Meeting House presents New Marlborough’s second annual “One Town, One Read,” a community book club.
Herman Melville famously wrote Moby Dick while living in Pittsfield at Arrowhead. The Berkshires clearly fed his imagination and work, but few know that he also wrote engaging and penetrating short stories about life in our hills. This year’s community read will feature three of these short stories. John Dickson, expert guide to Arrowhead and author of a forthcoming book on Melville in the Berkshires, will lead the discussion, along with historian Alice Fahs.

Jacob’s Pillow presents Orlando Hernández & the Knee-Heart Connection
Becket— On Thursday, July 24th at 5:30 p.m., Jacob’s Pillow presents Orlando Hernández & the Knee-Heart Connection for a rhythmic, story-driven performance blending tap, live music, and spoken word.
Known for his experimental approach, Hernández’s work reflects the cultural histories of Latino and Afro-diasporic communities. He presents a variety of stories and performances that thrillingly blend live music, tap dance, theater and storytelling, and embodied rhythm.

The Knee-Heart Connection is a tap dance-theater project led by Hernández, using techniques and technologies of tap dance, mask-work, physical theater, jazz music, and improvisation to create unique experiences of rhythm and reflection, with a particular perspective in the Puerto Rican diaspora.
The performance is on Thursday, July 24th at 5:30 p.m. on the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage at Jacob’s Pillow, located at 358 George Carter Road in Becket. Tickets and more information can be found online.

Clark Art Institute presents Sonia De Los Santos for a family-friendly outdoor concert
Williamstown— On Wednesday, July 23rd at 6 p.m., Clark Art Institute presents Sonia De Los Santos for a family-friendly outdoor concert, the latest in a series of free outdoor concerts with thematic connections to The Clark’s “Ground/work 2025” exhibition.
Sonia De Los Santos shares her Mexican heritage with “Ground/work 2025” artist Javier Senosiain and has been singing in Spanish and English for audiences of all ages since 2007. She brings her joyful music to the Clark for a family-friendly concert geared towards the young and the young at heart.

The free concert is on Wednesday, July 23rd at 6 p.m. on the Fernández Terrace at the Clark Art Institute, located at 225 South Street in Williamstown. Bring a picnic and your own seating. More information can be found online.

Great Barrington— On Thursday, July 24th at 4 p.m., Berkshire Opera Festival (BOF) presents “Behind the Curtain,” a multimedia presentation and discussion of BOF’s 10th Anniversary Season at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center.
This free season preview is a great opportunity to learn all about BOF’s 10th Anniversary Season and take a look behind the curtain of this summer’s mainstage production of Verdi’s “La Traviata,” taking place on August 23rd through 29th and their 10th Anniversary Concert on August 14th.

This preview will be led by BOF Co-founders, Artistic Director Brian Garman and Director of Production Jonathon Loy. The discussion will cover the history, story, and magic of Verdi’s iconic Opera. Maestro Garman will speak about the program of the Anniversary Concert as well as the composer Giuseppe Verdi, and the music and history of La Traviata. Loy will share his vision for BOF’s production, including set and costume designs.

Anti-disciplinarian performer and trans-dimensional sorceress Nuri invites you to participate in (or observe, if that’s your comfort level) ‘chaos energy,’ an experimental work-in-progress blending mysticism, performance, song, and manifestation of possible worlds. Willing participants will join in the process of developing this journey/prayer/spell.

Great Barrington— On Friday, July 25th from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Great Barrington Libraries presents “Let’s Talk About It: Menopause” with Mary Campbell at the Mason Library.
With the publication of four New York Times best-sellers within the last two years, menopause is getting some long overdue attention. So, “Let’s Talk About It” with Mary Campbell, a local women’s empowerment coach.

Mary Campbell is a women’s empowerment, intimacy and relationship coach, ordained interspiritual minister, counselor, and sexual educator based. She founded the nonprofit Walking Our Talk, a women’s support and creation circle which has served more than 500 women locally and more across the country.
The talk is on Friday, July 25th from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Mason Library, located at 231 Main Street in Great Barrington. More information can be found online.
