The Wilderness Players to perform at Simon’s Rock
Great Barrington — Bard College at Simon’s Rock’s Faculty Concert Series will presents the Wilderness Players on Sunday, April 17, at 3:00 p.m. in the College’s Kellogg Music Center at. The quartet features Judith Dansker on oboe, Sharon Powers on flute, John Myers on guitar, and Pete Toigo on double bass and will perform a program of works by European and Latin American composers including Marin Marais, Claude Debussy, Alberto Ginastera, Arcangelo Corelli, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Fernando Sor, as well as recent compositions by John Myers. The concert is free and open to the public.
The members of the Wilderness Players are all faculty members in the music program at Simon’s Rock. The group takes its name from its association with the Copake Falls Winds in the Wilderness Concerts, which are under the direction of Sharon Powers.

Poetry reading at the Norfolk Library

Norfolk, Conn. – On Sunday, April 17, at 4 p.m., the Norfolk Library will present a poetry reading with poets Karen Chase and Susannah Wood.
Lenox resident Karen Chase is the author of two collections of poems, “Kazimierz Square” and “BEAR,” as well as “Jamali-Kamali,’ a book-length homoerotic poem set in Mughal, India. Her poems, stories, and essays have appeared in “The Norton Introduction To Poetry” and “Poetry 180,” edited by Billy Collins. Norfolk’s Susannah Lawrence Wood holds a Masters in Writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She has been a longtime member of the Litchfield writing group Monday Poets, and her publishing credits include the Cortland Review, Nimrod, and The MacGuffin.

Bidwell House to offer internships for high school students

Monterey — The Bidwell House Museum will offer eight to 10 high school students who are interested in history the opportunity to become Young History Scholar interns this summer.
Internships last for two weeks: Week One includes learning about colonial Berkshire history, the Bidwell family, the house, the property, the collection, and how to give tours; and Week Two features a chosen research topic and giving tours as a junior docent. Each high school intern will receive a $200 stipend. The museum is also seeking a college student for an eight-week internship.

Gay whodunit cabaret heads to Club Helsinki Hudson
Hudson, N.Y. — “Nasty Drew & That Harder Boy: The Mystery of the Family Jewels,” a cabaret show written and produced by Chris Harder that parodies the classic Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries, will be presented at Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, April 17, at 7 p.m.
This “queer and campy whodunit,” a co-production of GayHudson.com and BigGayHudsonValley.com, features some of New York City’s hottest names in burlesque, drag, and circus performers.

Middle school summer program at Flying Cloud
New Marlborough — Flying Cloud Institute has announced Creators Studio, its new, week-long program for middle school students that will run Monday, June 20 – Friday, June 24, from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Institute.
Participants will utilize the Flying Cloud facilities to plunge into a project of their own devising. Students will be able to work deeply in such disciplines as robotics, engineering, coding, film, architecture, music composition, and ceramics, and each student will work with a mentor.
