Parsonsfield to play film score at MASS MoCA
North Adams — Pioneer Valley-based indie-folk heroes Parsonsfield will return to MASS MoCA on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 8 p.m. to play their original live music score to the classic Richard Flaherty documentary “Nanook of the North.”
During their 6 years together, the five musicians of Parsonsfield have developed an ear for exciting entanglements of jazz, bluegrass and folk. The band embraces an honest and heartfelt accompaniment to the historic cinematic feature “Nanook of the North,” which explores a year in the life of an Inuit family on the subarctic eastern seashore of Canada’s Hudson Bay. Filmed from the inside out and employing filmmaking practices that include cinéma vérité, stagings and simulations, the 1922 documentary cemented its place in cinematic history by sparking conversations of the potential of the medium and challenging the genre before it even existed.
Tickets range from $12–$30. For tickets and more information, see the Berkshire Edge calendar or call the MASS MoCA box office at (413) 662-2111.
