Lenox— On Sunday, December 14 at 2 p.m., WAM Theatre presents a reading of Pearl Cleage’s “Angry, Raucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous” at Ventfort Hall. 

“Angry, Raucous, and Shamelessly Gorgeous” weaves a tale of self-discovery and the enduring power of the performing arts. With humor, artistic-homage, and grace, it packs a punch as it explores artistic ownership, generational identity, and jungle-red nail polish.

Director Cloteal L. Horne said, “Pearl Cleage’s work is a beacon for our time, beckoning us to acknowledge, grapple, challenge, and embrace our civic responsibilities as citizens and artists in the midst of a complex political landscape. Through this love letter to Black Womxn, we challenge the concept of home, as we uplift what means to age gracefully, weather the storms of friendship, and make meaningful art through generational dissonance.”

The 90-minute reading is on Sunday, December 14 at 2 p.m. at Ventfort Hall, located at 104 Walker Street in Lenox. It will be followed by an open exchange. Tickets and more information can be found online.

Berkshire Theatre Group presents ‘Mutts Gone Nuts: Santa Paws’ at The Colonial Theatre

Pittsfield— On Sunday, December 14th at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., Berkshire Theatre Group presents “Mutts Gone Nuts: Santa Paws” at The Colonial Theatre. 

This festive canine spectacular stars an all-rescue cast of outrageously talented pups in a high-energy show packed with jaw-dropping tricks, belly laughs and heartwarming moments. Get ready for a tail-wagging, laugh-out-loud holiday treat for the whole family. Mutts Gone Nuts returns to The Colonial with more mayhem, more mischief, and even more four-legged fun.

Set to classic holiday tunes and brimming with good cheer, this year’s all-star lineup features the highest-jumping dog in the universe, a six-pound Pomeranian Pikachu mix with a big personality, and a lovable crew of once-discarded dogs who now steal the spotlight with flips, skips, prances and surprises at every turn. Santa Paws is a joyous celebration of second chances, seasonal spirit, and sheer puppy power. 

The performances are on Sunday, December 14th at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at The Colonial Theatre, located at 111 South Street in Pittsfield. Tickets and more information can be found online.

Aston Magna Music Festival presents a free concert at Saint James Place during Great Barrington’s Shop, Sip & Stroll

Great Barrington— On Saturday, December 13th at 3 p.m., Aston Magna Music Festival presents a free concert at Saint James Place during Great Barrington’s Shop, Sip & Stroll. 

The concert features Daniel Stepner on baroque violin, Laura Jeppesen on viola da gamba, and Catherine Liddell on theorbo. The program features Vivaldi, Bach, and Marais.

The family-friendly concert for ages 5 and up is on Saturday, December 13th at 3 p.m. at Saint James Place, located at 352 Main Street in Great Barrington. Admission is free. Reservations can be made by emailing info@astonmagna.org.

American Mural Project now offering Spanish language audio tour of exhibit

Winsted, Conn.— American Mural Project (AMP), the home of the world’s largest indoor collaborative work of art, announced the launch of a Spanish language option for the audio tour. 

This enhanced audio experience will now provide the stories of the workers pictured in the mural, as well as insights from artist, founder, and Artistic Director Ellen Griesedieck, in Spanish. Griesedieck states, “In the process of developing the mural, I traveled all over the United States. Time and again, I witnessed how many people in our country’s workforce rely on Spanish as their primary language. We are honored to help tell the story of the American worker in a way that embraces the labors of our nation’s Latino and Hispanic communities.”

Berkshire Community College welcomes applicants for Para Educator Training

Pittsfield— Berkshire Community College (BCC) is accepting applications for its Para Educator Training course. Classes are held four days per week from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning Monday, January 5th and concluding Thursday, February 12th.

Para educators play a vital role in supporting teachers in the classroom. The para educator certificate can also serve as an excellent first step toward a meaningful career in the field of education.

This is an entry-level course with no prerequisites. Registrants must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. More information and an interest form can be found online.
