Bennington Theater presents award-winning bluegrass singer-songwriter Caitlin Canty
Bennington, Vt.— On Friday, January 2nd at 7:30 p.m., Bennington Theater presents Caitlin Canty.
Called “Dreamy and daring” by Rolling Stone, Caitlin Canty’s songs harness the grit and spark at the heart of American music, tempered with a voice both haunting and distinct.
She tours throughout the U.S. and Europe, having performed at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, FreshGrass, and Green Mountain Bluegrass, and Roots Festival. She’s opened for Mary Chapin Carpenter, Josh Ritter, The Milk Carton Kids, and Gregory Alan Isakov. She won the Telluride Troubadour songwriting competition at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 2015. Her song, “Get Up,” was nominated for Song of the Year in the Folk Alliance International Music Awards and was featured on NPR Music’s, “Songs We Love.” Her songs have appeared in film and TV, including “Code Black,” “House of Cards,” “and Money Heist,” and have garnered over 40 million streams on Spotify alone.

Future Lab(s) Gallery presents ‘A Winter All-Members Wonderland,’ showcasing the work of over 40 artists
North Adams— From January 2nd through the 30th, Future Lab(s) Gallery presents “A Winter All-Members Wonderland,” showcasing the work of over 40 artists.
The floodgates have been opened. All members were invited to take part in this art spectacle. January will be a warm month, indeed, as the wild and wonderful Future Lab(s) Gallery turns up the heat.
The exhibit is on January 2nd through the 30th at Future Lab(s) Gallery, located at 43 Eagle Street in North Adams. There is an opening reception on Friday, January 2nd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. More information can be found online.

Great Mountain Forest presents ‘The Art of Wintering,’ a special forest immersion program
Norfolk, Conn.— On Sunday, January 4th from noon to 2 p.m., Great Mountain Forest presents “The Art of Wintering,” a special forest immersion program.
This New Years’ inspired outdoor experience honors winter’s natural rhythms. The program begins with a reflective walk to Tobey Pond perfect for quiet introspection and listening to what winter has to say. Participants will learn that winter isn’t just a season, it’s an invitation. Highlights include a fire meditation session, a guided inquiry into what it means to “winter well,” and a forest-inspired tea with wholesome snacks. Wrap yourself in layers of warmth and curiosity, and come prepared for gentle walking, soulful reflection, and recalibration in nature’s winter embrace.
The program is on Sunday, January 4th from noon to 2 p.m. at the Great Mountain Forest shelter, located at 90 Golf Drive in Norfolk, Conn. More information can be found online.

Lenox— On Monday, December 29th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Ventfort Hall presents a children’s evening story hour, a cozy celebration of classic winter stories, hot cocoa, and more.
Ventfort Hall is decorated for the holidays, so get cozy, wear your favorite pajamas, and bring blankets to snuggle up with in the mansion library for a story hour featuring “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats, “The Mitten” by Jan Brett, “Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg, and “The Tomten” by Astrid Lingren.
The event is on Monday, December 29th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ventfort Hall, located at 104 Walker Street in Lenox. Admission is free. All children must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Reservations and more information can be found online.

Lee Greener Gateway Committee and Berkshire SPAAMFAA to host a ‘Giving Tree’ drop-off event
Lee— On Saturday, January 10th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Lee Greener Gateway Committee and Berkshire SPAAMFAA will host a “Giving Tree” drop-off event.
At this community drop-off event, anyone can drop off their real Christmas trees or wreaths to be safely and sustainably recycled. (No greens containing tinsel, wire, decorations, or spray materials.) There will be live music and free hot dogs, burgers, cider, and baked goods. In return for the disposal, Lee Greener Gateway Committee and Berkshire SPAAMFAA are accepting monetary donations or non-perishable food items to support The Lee Food Pantry.
The event is on Saturday, January 10th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Meadow Farm, located at 1125 Meadow Street in Lee. Pickup available upon request.
