Lisa Vollmer Photography Studio + Gallery presents their season opening exhibition featuring artwork by Lisa Vollmer & Sabine von Falken
Great Barrington— On June 17th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Lisa Vollmer Photography Studio + Gallery opens the season with an exhibition showcasing recent artwork of Lisa Vollmer and Sabine von Falken.
At the heart of the exhibition, visitors will be greeted by a five-panel artwork titled “Earth”. This installation showcases the unique topography of Cappadocia, Turkey, as its central images. Surrounding these aerial views are carefully captured photographs of a small rock discovered on Cape Cod’s National Seashore. Through the arrangement of these elements, an optical illusion is created elevating the spherical form and dynamic texture that epitomize our planet.

Additionally, the gallery proudly presents a collection of new works by Sabine von Falken, inspired by her recent exploration in Morocco. The new series of prints highlights a diverse range of subjects, including vibrant street art, beautiful Berber symbols, and a dynamic set of still life compositions. These pieces showcase Sabine’s unique ability to discover beauty in the functional and transform it into visually striking pieces.
The Lisa Vollmer Photography Studio + Gallery open hours are from Thursday through Monday, noon to 5 p.m. Private viewings are available by appointment. More information can be found by visiting the Lisa Vollmer Photography Studio + Gallery online.

Berkshire Botanical Garden offers a botanical dyeing intensive
Stockbridge— On Saturday, June 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Berkshire Botanical Garden offers a Botanical Dyeing Intensive.
In this workshop led by Maggie Pate, attendees will discuss preparing your fibers for natural dyeing, perform color extraction baths with food waste, local season plants or flowers, and a natural dye extract as well as pH shift lesson and color modifier discussion. Communal dye baths will be used to create fabric swatches, cotton market tote and a silk scarf for students to take home with them. Watch as goldenrod flowers create a sunshine hue, blueberries create a brilliant purple and onion skins create a moody olive. Plus, attendees will receive Maggie’s Natural Dyeing e-Course so they can dye at home.
Maggie Pate is the designer and purveyor of Nåde. She began her career in fashion modeling internationally then retired to work for a label in New York City. Her work in textiles is a cross-section that explores the synthesis of textures, repetition and geometry. It forms a poetic visual language that ignites the potential of figurative rhythm, a visual synesthesia where shapes, colors and mood transform into a kaleidoscopic canvas. The last few years, her focus has shifted to cultivating a 100 percent sustainable and eco-friendly studio by capturing color with predominantly food waste collected from local restaurants and farms.

The intensive is on Saturday, June 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Berkshire Botanical Garden on West Stockbridge Road in Stockbridge. The cost for members is $150 and $165 for non-members. Tickets and more information can be found by visiting Berkshire Botanical Garden online.
