The Williams Inn and The Barn Kitchen & Bar’s ‘Summer on the Lawn’ series continues with Benny Kohn and Susan Davis
Williamstown— On Sunday, July 28th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., The Williams Inn and The Barn Kitchen & Bar’s ‘Summer on the Lawn’ series continues with Jazz pianist Benny Kohn and R&B singer Susan Davis.

Along with the musical performance, there will be yard games, food, and more. There are new summer cocktails and a menu including flatbreads, sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Highlights include the house-fried potato chips with French onion dip, truffle fries, the lobster roll, a clambake for two, fun desserts, and a kids menu.

18th Annual Hilltown 6 pottery tour and sale
Berkshire— On July 27th and 28th, the Hilltown 6 potters presents the 18th annual Hilltown 6 pottery tour and sale, a nationally recognized event that attracts artists and customers from around the country, drawing visitors from the region and beyond.
Hilltown 6 is a group of eight nationally known potters based in the Hilltowns of Western Massachusetts including Robbie Heidinger, Christy Knox, Maya Machin, Michael McCarthy, Hiroshi Nakayama, Mark Shapiro, Constance Talbot, and Sam Taylor. Visit these eight potters in their spectacular working studios and meet their invited guest artists from around the country. This year’s tour includes 20 invited guest artists.

There will be scheduled educational demonstrations and participatory events throughout the weekend. Watch a potter construct a teapot by joining freshly thrown parts, climb inside a giant wood-burning kiln, hear how the fire is maintained to reach a temperature of over 2,300 degrees, and see clay shaped into an exquisitely balanced sculpture.
For this 18th year, a week before the in-person event, the tour will kick off with a virtual program, Meet the Potters/Meet the Pots, a lively discussion among the potters about their journeys in clay and why ceramics matter. Pittsfield— From July 26th through July 28th, Barrington Stage Company’s Virginia and Harvey Kimmel Arts Education Fund’s Devised Theatre Ensemble presents “The Wild Tale of Skylar Squirrel: Acorny New Musical.”
When Skylar P. Squirrel and her cousin Joey are entrusted with a map that reveals the location of their colony’s buried acorns, a horrible hawk steals it and sets them out on a wild adventure that will change their lives forever.

Don’t miss this hilarious original musical for young audiences featuring the talents of local teens from across Berkshire County including Sam Barry, Isabella “Izzy” Brown, Madelyn Rork Craig, Frankie Evans, Connie Gordon, Fiona Gordon, Kendall Heck, Mason LaDouceur, Nell Laney, Carter Marks, Sara-Louise Oakes, Sebastian Mark Shoemaker, and Sage Winkler.

Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum 40th Anniversary celebration
Lenox— On Saturday, July 27th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum hosts a 40th anniversary celebration at the Lenox Station Museum at 10 Willow Creek Road in Lenox. On Sunday, July 28th at 3 p.m., the celebration continues with an outdoor concert by the Pellegrino Band at the Stockbridge Station at 1 Depot Road in Stockbridge.
“Since we began offering these train rides in July 1984, hundreds of thousands of people have seen the beauty of the Berkshires in a whole new way,” said Tom Delasco, President of the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum. “We’re holding these events to celebrate the work we’ve done and to hopefully kick off many more decades of educating and entertaining our visitors.”

Guests at the 40th anniversary celebration can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks, remarks from special guests, and tours of the Lenox Station Museum grounds. The historic Roger Williams train will be open to visitors, giving them the chance to walk through the train, sit in the engineer’s seat, and hear the engines run. The 40th anniversary celebration will mark the official kickoff of The Budd Fund, a capital campaign to support the restoration of these historic rail cars to operational condition.
Tickets for the 40th anniversary celebration start at $40 with the option to contribute a higher amount to The Budd Fund. Tickets for the concert at Stockbridge Station are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages three to 13. More information can be found online.

Bidwell House Museum hosts a meditative forest walk with Hannah Fries
Monterey— On Sunday, July 28th at 2 p.m., journey to the Bidwell House for a meditative walk in the forests surrounding the museum.
Guide Hannah Fries, author of “Being with Trees” and the poetry collection “Little Terrarium,” will invite you to slow down, engage your senses, and take a closer look at the nature all around you. She’ll share tidbits of natural history and a few poems for an inspiring mix of mindfulness, science, and poetry.

The walk is on Sunday, July 28th at 2 p.m. on the grounds of the Bidwell House Museum at 100 Art School Road in Monterey. This walk will last approximately one hour. Visitors are encouraged to wear shoes for hiking and to bring water. Registration is required. More information can be found online.
