Great Barrington— From August 4th through August 6th, In partnership with local presenter North Plain Farm, Brooklyn based production company Hideaway Circus is set to stage its open-air family-friendly circus, “Stars Above”, in Great Barrington.

Stars Above is an all-ages production that seamlessly blends contemporary and traditional circus arts. The performance, delivered by an international cast of skilled performers, unfolds on a custom-built circular stage and aerial rig, beneath the vast expanse of the sky. They invite you to immerse yourselves in the magic of “Stars Above” and create unforgettable memories this summer.

The show runs from August 4th through August 6th at North Plain Farm on North Plain Road in Great Barrington. Showtimes are Friday, August 4th at 7 p.m., Saturday, August 5th at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, August 6th at 4 p.m. Ticket prices range from $25 to $65 depending on seating choice. Sonic Era Touring presents the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center

Great Barrington— On Sunday, August 6th at 4:00 p.m., for one night only, Sonic Era Touring presents the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. 

The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra returns to Great Barrington for an evening of big band swing music. With hits such as “In The Mood”, “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, and of course their theme song “Moonlight Serenade”, the Glenn Miller Orchestra has been an icon of swing and the big band sounds of the war era, entertaining audiences around the world.

The 17-member orchestra, their lead singers, and vocal group will perform their catalog of big band classics just the way they would have over 80 years ago when Glenn Miller stood in front of his band. It is a show that continues to transport audiences back in time and is as nostalgic as it is exciting.

The Chester Theatre Company is delighted to bring ‘The Light’ by Loy A. Webb to the Chester Town Hall Theatre

Chester— From July 27th to August 6th, the Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is delighted to bring “The Light”, by Loy A. Webb, to the Chester Town Hall Theatre.

Rashad and Genesis have just gotten engaged. To celebrate, he wants to take her to a show by a local musician who’s made it big. When she refuses, secrets are revealed and the past threatens to overshadow their future. Stage Left calls “The Light”, “A story of revelation, redress, and hopeful reconciliation cued at the intersection of #MeToo and Black Lives Matter.”

Kala Ross makes her CTC debut as Genesis, and Kayodé Soyemi returns to Chester, as Rashad.

The performances run from July 27th to August 6th at the Chester Town Hall Theatre on Middlefield Road in Chester. Tickets are $52.50. The Fisher Center at Bard presents Alicia Hall Moran in the Spiegeltent

Annandale-On-Hudson— This Friday, July 28th at 8 p.m., the Fisher Center at Bard presents Alicia Hall Moran in the Spiegeltent. 

Musical traditions yearning for each other across race, class, and nation grace acclaimed soprano Alicia Hall Moran’s meditation on the classic Motown songbook.

Berkshire Opera Festival and Rainbow Seniors are hosting a free public preview of ‘La Bohème’ at the Berkshire Athenaeum

Pittsfield— This Saturday, July 29th at 1 p.m., Berkshire Opera Festival (BOF) and Rainbow Seniors are hosting a free public preview of “La Bohème” at the Berkshire Athenaeum.

Please join Berkshire Opera Festival and Rainbow Seniors of Berkshire County for a presentation and discussion of BOF’s upcoming production of Puccini’s “La Bohème”, the inspiration for the Broadway musical “Rent”. Join BOF Co-Founders, Artistic Director Brian Garman and Director of Production Jonathon Loy as they pull back the curtain on the history, story, and magic of this iconic opera.

The Bidwell House Museum presents Western Michigan University Professor Sally Hadden’s ‘Lawyering for Loyalists’

Monterey— This Saturday, July 29th from 11 a.m. to noon, join the Bidwell House Museum for their 4th history talk of the season with Western Michigan University Professor Sally Hadden, who will present “Lawyering for Loyalists”.

Sally Hadden is a legal historian of early America and the antebellum United States. Her book “Slave Patrols: Law and Violence in Virginia and the Carolinas” describes the white-on-black violence that pervaded America’s slave societies. She co-edited the “Blackwell Companion to American Legal History” and “Signposts: New Directions in Southern Legal History”. She is completing a study entitled “Cities of Lawyers: Lawyers in Boston, Philadelphia and Charleston” that examines the working lives of attorneys in three eighteenth-century seaports. She is also co-writing a study of the first Supreme Court and its forebears. Hadden is a past officer and board member of the American Society of Legal History and she serves on the editorial board of “Law and History Review”.

This lecture will be on Saturday, July 29th from 11 a.m. to noon on Zoom. Attendees will receive an email one or two days in advance of the talk with the link to access the Zoom presentation. Becket Arts Center to host a Hilltown Garden Tour

Becket— On Saturday, July 29th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Becket Arts Center is happy to host a Hilltown Garden Tour.

Enthusiastic gardeners will be on site willing to show off their gardens and answer questions. Maps are available at the Becket Arts Center on Brooker Hill Road. Dalton— On Saturday, August 19th, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Dalton United Methodist Church will host a chicken barbecue to benefit the Dalton Fire Department and the church’s general fund.

The dinner is on Saturday, August 19th, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Dalton United Methodist Church on Main Street in Dalton. In addition to the half chicken, the menu will include corn on the cob, potato salad, watermelon, brownie, and beverage.
