Lion’s Den presents singer-songwriter Lisa Michelle Anderson to celebrate the release of her new album, ‘Get to Somewhere’
Stockbridge— On Saturday, April 5th 7:30 p.m., The Lion’s Den at The Red Lion Inn presents singer-songwriter Lisa Michelle Anderson, also known as Lisa Wooster, coming home to celebrate the release of her new album, “Get to Somewhere.”
Lisa Michelle Anderson’s music is a masterful blend of Americana, folk, and rock, stitched together with the rich, varied experiences of life. Recognition has followed her at every step. From being voted Best Singer-Songwriter by the Minnesota Music Academy to opening for legends like Warren Zevon and The Jayhawks, Lisa’s career is marked by milestones that speak to her talent and tenacity. She has garnered critical acclaim: “simply breathtaking” (Indie Press); “the most gorgeous lead vocals” (Vents Magazine); and “one of the catchiest and most beautiful voices we’ve ever heard” (Bored City.)
Produced by Berkshire Troubador Johnny Irion and mixed by Paul Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies,) her new full-length LP, “Get to Somewhere,” is a collection of the lived experiences and true stories that shaped her. Stories about roller skating rinks, summer love, driving to California, falling in love with someone’s voice, walking around cemeteries, self-doubt, and the notion that tomorrow always brings another day. It is about leaving one place behind and finding another, both in the world and within oneself. It is a journey across landscapes, through time, and into the heart, reflecting miles traveled and the weight of standing still. She says, “My music is a reflection of where I come from—of the places, the people, and the moments that stay with you no matter how far you go. Coming back to perform here, where it all began, is something truly special.”
The concert is on Saturday, April 5th 7:30 p.m. at The Lion’s Den at The Red Lion Inn, located at 30 Main Street in Stockbridge. More information can be found online.

Fisher Center presents ‘Masterclass’ a collaboration between Adrienne Truscott and Brokentalkers
Annandalen-On-Hudson— From April 3rd through April 6th, Fisher Center at Bard presents “Masterclass,” a collaboration between Adrienne Truscott and Brokentalkers.
Blending together Adrienne Truscott’s genre-straddling work and savagely comedic discourse on gender with internationally renowned theatre company Brokentalkers’ formally slippery dramaturgy, award-winning ‘Masterclass’ is a parody like no other — uncovering excruciating truths about privilege, gender, and power.

Performed by “fed-up feminist” Adrienne Truscott and “all-around good guy” Feidlim Cannon, “Masterclass” begins as a cockamamie masterclass between two familiar archetypes—the self-mythologizing male artist (Truscott) and a sycophantic interviewer (Cannon). It’s fun, it’s familiar, there are wigs, but there is something more at play. This wickedly funny take-down of the macho artist has been performed to critical acclaim across the world, including the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Festival, RISING Melbourne, Southbank Centre London, Brighton Festival, Teatro do Bairro Alto Lisbon, and many more.
The performances run from April 3rd through April 6th at the Fisher Center at Bard, located on Manor Avenue in Annandale-On-Hudson in N.Y. There will be ASL-Interpreted performance and post-show talk on April 6th at 3 p.m. Tickets and more information can be found online.

MASS MoCA presents ‘Randi Malkin Steinberger: The Archive of Lost Memories’
North Adams— From April 5th through June 29th, MASS MoCA presents “Randi Malkin Steinberger: The Archive of Lost Memories.”
Giving new life to old things, Randi Malkin Steinberger provides a window into the lives of the forgotten through a vast collection of found photographs, slides, and tintypes that she has gathered over years of trolling flea markets, eBay, and other sources. Salvaging, and protecting these abandoned objects, Steinberger honors the memories embedded within them. While this treasure trove of found images offers glimpses into the lives and loves of others, Steinberger’s interventions transform the photographs into objects of wonder and mystery. Embellishing these once-forgotten pictures with thread, nail polish, and Rorschach blots, the artist prompts viewers to imagine the stories they hold while acknowledging the stories we bring to them.

Just as Steinberger preserves the memories of other people, she also documents her own life in notebooks and drawings and in text and video. Part of an examined life, her practice is a search for meaning and beauty in the quotidian acts of living and making. Steinberger will set up a studio in Building 8, creating an ever-evolving environment that functions as work space, archive, installation, and cabinet of curiosities. The artist invites the public in to witness the daily practice of making and consider the questions, connections, and possibilities it creates.
The exhibit runs from April 5th through June 29th at MASS MoCA, located at 1040 MASS MoCA Way in North Adams. Tickets and more information can be found online.
