Beryl J. Wells, 94, of Lenox

Beryl worked in the Lenox Town Hall and then at Lenox Bank, where she headed the branch as an assistant vice president, retiring in 1997.

Beryl Wells was called on to join the Lord on April 25, 2022, surrounded by family members and shortly after being admitted to Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center.

She was born in Donora, Pennsylvania, to Zachariah Jefferson Compton and Minnie Porter Compton, on November 28, 1927. Shortly after World War II, she married James “Bud” Wells on January 17, 1948, in Donora, and they spent the next 71 years together until Bud’s passing in 2020.

In 1962, Beryl and her family moved to Lenox, where she worked in the office at Lenox School for Boys and ran the snack shop until the school closed in 1973. Then she worked in the Lenox Town Hall until she took a position with Lenox Bank in 1976, eventually heading the bank’s branch as an assistant vice president. She retired from the bank in 1997.

Throughout her life she was devoted to her churches, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Donora, St. Helena’s Chapel in Lenox, and Trinity Episcopal Church in Lenox.

Beryl is survived by her daughter Kristine (Donald) Warfield, her son Timothy (Christine) Wells, grandchildren Sara (Dennis) Ordyna, Nora (Aaron) Tassone, and Keri (Joseph) Kelley, and great-grandchildren Quinn Ordyna, Joseph Tassone, Theodore Kelley, Avery Tassone, and Harrison Kelley.

Beryl was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, great-grandson Conrad Kelley, and her husband James, who passed away on April 6, 2020.

The funeral service for Mrs. Beryl J. Wells will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Church, with Rev. Michael Tuck officiating. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Jimmy Fund in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
