Bernard Walter ‘Bernie’ Boldyga, 92, of Great Barrington

In keeping with Bernie’s wishes, services will be private at a later date.

Bernard Walter “Bernie” Boldyga, 92, of Great Barrington, died Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Bernie was born in Schenectady, N.Y. on July 14, 1931, the son of Stanley and Genevieve (Baldiga) Boldyga. He was a graduate of the former Williams High School, where he was a standout basketball and baseball player and was drafted by the Red Sox.

Bernie worked for the telephone company for many years. He loved golf and was a member at Wyantenuck Country Club. He also loved scratch tickets, greyhound and horse racing, going on trips to the casino, and spending time with his family. Bernie is survived by his wife Anna Marie (Dennis) Boldyga of Great Barrington; his son Dennis Boldyga and wife Kathy of Great Barrington; his daughter Constance Capasse and husband Martin of New Mexico; four grandchildren, Nicholas Boldyga (Jessica), Tiffany Boldyga, Martin Capasse Jr. (Michele), and Katie Suriner; six great-grandchildren, Greyson Boldyga, Avery Boldyga, Marin Boldyga, Jasmine McGovern, Elisa Suriner, and Stratton Capasse; and his great-great grandchild Hope Chinnici. Bernie was predeceased by his grandson Richard Morey.

In keeping with Bernie’s wishes, services will be private at a later date. Condolences may be made through the website of Birches-Roy Funeral Home.

A funeral service for Roberta 'Bobbie' Nussbaum will be held Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, conducted by Rabbi Barbara Cohen. Burial will follow at Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
