Berkshire Waldorf High School receives $4 million anonymous donation for renovation of Old Town Hall in Stockbridge

Renovation project should be complete by summer 2025.

Stockbridge — On Thursday, May 23, Berkshire Waldorf High School announced that it received a $4 million anonymous donation to move forward with the renovation of Procter Hall, also known as the Old Town Hall, at 6 Main Street.

Previously, the school announced that it would move from its current location at 16 Pine St.

According to a press release written by school Executive Director Stephen Sagarin, the school has completed the architectural phase of the project design, and construction on the building is underway.

Sagarin wrote that the lead architect for the project is Pamela Sandler, AIA of Stockbridge and that renovation work is being done by Marois Construction of South Hadley.

Sagarin wrote that the project includes the remediation of asbestos and lead paint, the addition of an elevator and sprinkler system, a redesign of the interior, and the preservation of the upstairs meeting room and other historical features.

Berkshire Waldorf High School CFO Patrick White is quoted in the press release as saying that 80 percent of the anticipated construction budget for the project is now in place.

Sagarin added in his press release that the project should be finished by the summer of 2025.

The school is 22 years old and next month will graduate its 18th senior class.
