PITTSFIELD — The Berkshire Museum’s Whale of a Gala set sail Friday night, Aug. 20 at Arrowhead, the former estate of author Herman Melville and current home of the Berkshire County Historical Society. Nearly 200 guests attended the outdoor celebration featuring shanty band Sharks Come Cruisin’, a bucking shark, and photobooth fun with Berkshire Mirror Moments.
Together with the Benefactor Dinner in honor of Suzanne Nash, held earlier this month, the Whale of a Gala raised more than $200,000 in support of education and culture at the Berkshire Museum, with a focus on the museum’s innovative new Mobile Museum Unit (MoMU) project which will create new programming opportunities at the museum and throughout the community.
Catering was provided by
Brennan’s Catering & Events, with cocktails and dance-enhancers by Berkshire Mountain Distillers, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bright Ideas Brewing, and SPIRITED Wines. A raw bar was provided by Mazzeo’s Meat and Seafood. The evening’s sailcloth tent was courtesy of Classical Tents and Party Goods, and A/V by Encore Audio.
