Meeting agenda items also include an executive session about the lawsuit brought by the teacher investigated in the “Gender Queer” incident.

Great Barrington — The Berkshire Hills Regional School District will be discussing the appointment of an interim assistant superintendent at its next meeting on Thursday, June 6, at 6 p.m.

Superintendent of Schools Peter Dillon responded to a request for comment from The Berkshire Edge that he is currently out on medical leave and is recovering from surgery.

Also on the agenda for the June 6 meeting is an executive session concerning strategy for litigation in the lawsuit filed in early May by Arantzazú Zuzene Galdós-Shapiro, the teacher investigated in the “Gender Queer” police investigation at W.E.B. Du Bois Regional Middle School.

Galdós-Shapiro filed a civil rights lawsuit in the United States District Court on May 14 against the school district, Superintendent Dillon, Police Chief Paul Storti, and investigating Police Officer Joseph O’Brien.

Another agenda item for the June 6 meeting is a discussion on a proposed policy for cell phones for the school district. Click here for a document the proposed policy contained in the June 6 meeting informational packet.
