Benjamin A. Koldys Jr., 72, of Housatonic

He proudly served his country with the Army Reserves. He worked in maintenance at Fairview Commons, “his home away from home.”

 

Benjamin “Bronus” A. Koldys Jr. 72, of Housatonic, Mass., died Wednesday May 13, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Great Barrington on June 8, 1942, son of the late Benjamin A. Sr. and Stella T. Bubrzycki Koldys.

He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Searles High School class of 1960. He also was a graduate of North Adams State College and Albany Business College, attaining degrees in accounting. He proudly served his country with the Army Reserves. He worked in maintenance at Fairview Commons, “his home away from home.” He was a communicant at the former All Saints Church, Housatonic. He was a member of the Housatonic Hose Company, a former member of the Wyantenuck Country Club, and he enjoyed collecting Housatonic memorabilia.

He leaves his sister, Patricia A. Carlotto and her husband Peter, his nephew Peter B. Carlotto and his wife Meaghan, his niece Lisa M. Carlotto and Margaret, his sister, Maureen E. Brazie and her husband Donald, his nephew Donald Brazie and Bridget and children Sophia and Benjamin, his nephew Neil Brazie, his niece Tara Viola and husband Thomas Fusco, and her children Mackenzie, Syndi and Isabella Viola, and his former wife Chris Koldys and his son Adam Zieminski and his wife Sylvia and their daughter Camila Orczykowska-Zieminski, his daughter Autumn Scheumann and her husband Eric, and their children Gus and Norah.

In keeping with Benji’s wishes all services were private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Benji’s memory may be made to the Fairview Commons Activities Fund in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street Great Barrington, MA. 01230. “He was father, dziadzi, uncle, brother and friend… he was Benji… friend to all and loved by many…we will miss you always. “ Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10 a.m., at St. Ann Church with Monsignor John Bonzagni officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Pittsfield.
