Belle Piontek, 95, of Great Barrington

Belle worked for 25 years as a machine operator at Becton Dickinson in Canaan, Connecticut, retiring in 1986.

Belle Piontek, 95, of Great Barrington died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington.

She was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Mill River, the daughter of John and Anna (Finkle) Emprimo. Belle was a graduate from Mill River School. Belle worked for 25 years as a machine operator at Becton Dickinson in Canaan, Connecticut, retiring in 1986. She also worked as a cook for a private family before working at BD. Belle loved working in her flower beds and cooking, and loved to teach and spend time with and go places with Amy. Belle’s husband, John T. Piontek, predeceased her in 1981.

Belle is survived by her pride and joy, Anna “Amy” Piontek and other half Joe Hallas of New Milford, Connecticut, originally from Berkshire County; daughter-in-law Carol Piontek; step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Belle was predeceased by her two sons, George Piontek in 2010 and John Piontek in 2015; and her sister Roseina Emprimo in 2015. The last part of her life, Belle was taken good care of by Amy and Kimberly Soules.

Funeral services for Belle Piontek will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Housatonic with Reverend William P. Murphy, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 11, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Belle’s memory may be made to Berkshire Humane Society in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
