Glendale — Whatever your faith, whatever song or lament that is held in your heart, whatever it is that stirs your soul, whatever petition is suspended in your marrow, whatever god or G-d you keep turning your face to, whatever… Whoever you are, no matter what your faith path might be, pause, swallow your fear and be one in prayer or meditation for those 100,000 and counting who have died, in our country alone, from COVID19. I invite you to take them up into your heart, but don’t stop there. Gather up those who have no work to go to, storeowners with no customers, parents without daycare, nursing home residents sheltered in isolation.… and all of the others who have been tinged, touched, singed or felled by this pandemic. Does the weight of this sorrow seem too much to bear? Then wait, take a breath and realize that you are not holding this sorrow alone. We are all holding it and we can all place it in the sunlight of the spirit. This is the bittersweet blessing. This is all of us together in lament and praise, each one naming what has been lost while standing in the charge and brilliance of Spring’s insistence for new life.
