Beatrice Scholz Shepard, 90, of Alford

A native and lifelong resident of the area, Beatrice attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Williams High School in Stockbridge.

Beatrice Scholz Shepard, 90, a longtime resident of West Road in Alford passed away November 15, 2015 at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Home in Great Barrington.

A native and lifelong resident of the area Beatrice was born March 9, 1925 at the family home in West Stockbridge, the daughter of Warner and Doris (Tucker) Scholz. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Williams High School in Stockbridge.

Primarily a homemaker Beatrice enjoyed going to tag sales.

She was a former member of the Alford Garden Club.

Mrs. Shepard is survived by her son Gary M. Shepard of Alford, Mass., and her daughter Lynn S. Fitzgerald of Windsor, Conn. She also leaves her sister Jean Roots of Lenoxdale, Mass., and her grandchildren Ruth, David and Erin Shepard, and Andrew Fitzgerald.

She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years, Merrill A. Shepard, who died on August 29, 2007. The couple was married on November 22, 1947 in West Stockbridge, Mass.

In accordance with her wishes there were no services.

A Mass to celebrate Virginia's life will be held at St. Mary's Church in Lee, at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025. Following Mass, she will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, which is within chipping range of Greenock Country Club's third hole.
