For the first time since they were forced to cancel their 48th season and deliver their concerts via the internet, the Aston Magna Chamber Players will perform before a live audience Saturday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., at Hudson Hall and Sunday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m., at Saint James Place.
The program, “Masterpieces of the Late Baroque,” includes Bach’s Sonata in E Minor for violin and continuo; Marin Marais’ Pièces de viole for gamba and continuo; Jacques Leclair’s Sonata in A Major for violin and continuo; Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Concert en Trio No. 1 in C Minor; Leclair’s Sonata for two violins, and Bach’s Trio Sonata in C Major.
All Aston Magna performances are on period instruments, played by people who have really mastered them: Edson Scheid and Daniel Stepner, baroque violins; Laura Jeppsen, viola da gamba; Catherine Liddell, theorbo, and Michael Sponseller, harpsichord.
Tickets: $40 in advance; $45 at the door; $15 for those under 30 with ID; FREE for full-time students with ID.
