Artimishel Cherry, 100, of Great Barrington

Artimishel was very active as a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Catawba, South Carolina, and was a member of the Eastern Star in Lancaster, South Carolina.

Artimishel C. Cherry, 100, of Great Barrington died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. Artimishel was born April 3, 1918, in Catawba, South Carolina, the daughter of Leonard and Cora (Fergerson) Crawford. She was educated in South Carolina schools. Artimishel was very active as a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Catawba and was a member of the Eastern Star in Lancaster, South Carolina.

She is survived by one daughter, Marry Cherry Rice and husband Ben, with whom she lived; four sisters: Amelia Crawford, Nora Johnson, Albirtha Howze and Mary Crawford; one grandson: Isaiah B. Williams Sr.; two granddaughters: Stepannie Rice and Benita Rice; four great-grandchildren: Isaiah Jr., Autumn, Harmony and Prince Adien; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, William B. Cherry, Artimishel was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services for Artimishel C. Cherry will be held Friday, Sept. 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 9 Rosseter St., Great Barrington, MA 01230 with Rev. Joellen Forte officiating. A viewing will be from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Macedonia Baptist Church preceding the funeral. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT 06002. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Artimishel’s memory may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church in Catawba, South Carolina. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME is entrusted with arrangements.
