Arthur J. Coons, 88, Great Barrington dairy farmer

Arthur was on two boards of directors, the Milk Promotion Association and AGRIMARK CMPA for 26 years.

Arthur J. Coons Jr. 88, of Great Barrington died peacefully Friday March 24 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born in Sheffield on November 8, 1928 son of Arthur J. Sr. and Bessie M. (Weidmer) Coons. He married Anita Daniels in 1949. In 1950 they bought a dairy farm in Great Barrington. Arthur was on two boards of directors, the Milk Promotion Association and AGRIMARK CMPA for 26 years.

Arthur and his wife loved to travel around the United States. They especially enjoyed Hawaii. He loved being with his family, saying “We worked together and played together.”

Arthur is survived by his wife Anita E. (Daniels) Coons, his children, Molly and partner Tom, Vicki, Ellen, James and wife Beverly, George and wife Maureen, Robert and wife Vicki, Donna and husband Scott and Edward and partner Karen; his grandchildren, Chantel, Kathleen and husband Ed, Kelly and partner Matt, John, Nicholas and Daniel and wife Bailly and great grandson Jasper. Arthur was predeceased by infant daughter, Deborah Ann, and brother William C. Coons.

Private graveside services were held in Sheffield Center Cemetery. There were no calling hours. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
