Armed robbery in Lanesborough investigated

Lanesborough — The town’s police department is investigating an armed robbery that took place during the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 3.

According to a press release issued by the department, the armed robbery took place on Route 7 near the Lanesborough and New Ashford town line.

The victim of the robbery was traveling southbound on Route 7 when they stopped to check on what appeared to be a disabled motor vehicle on the right shoulder of the roadway.

The victim approached the disabled vehicle when the driver of the vehicle exited it, and then a second male approached the victim from behind, pressing a firearm against the victim’s head.

The suspects robbed the victim and then returned to their vehicle, proceeding to drive south on Route 7.

The victim described the vehicle as a “dark-colored older model pickup truck with some rust, a ladder rack, and Vermont license plates.”
