A Carol for Christmas Eve

Author and composer William P. Perry dedicates this original composition to carolers the world over.

It’s Christmas Eve, and I look back to the times some years ago when I was among the local carolers going from door to door the night before Christmas, sometimes with a member or two of the BSO providing extra accompaniment.

It’s a wonderful tradition, and when I was writing songs for the Broadway version of “The Wind in the Willows” (libretto by Jane Iredale), we included a first-act-closing number based on the poem “Joy Shall Be Yours in the Morning.”

Here it is now, dedicated to carolers the world over.

THEATER REVIEW: ‘Parade’ plays at Proctors Theatre through Jan. 17

This production only has two more days in Schenectady before it sets out on its national tour, and I encourage musical theater fans, historians, religion advocates, and just about everyone else to get in their cars and see this while you can.
