Andrea Harrington for needed DA reform

In her letter Sharon Gregory writes: “Andrea Harrington is part of the solution, not the problem.”

To the editor:

There is a desperate effort underway to maintain the status quo in the District Attorney’s office. This includes an unjustified smear campaign against Andrea Harrington.

It associates the election of Andrea Harrington as a “public safety issue.” The true public safety issue is to continue current policies and practices as they are in Berkshire County. The crime statistics from the Berkshire County Regional Planning Commission have been disastrous, especially in our two largest cities. But we are all responsible for making a change and electing the next Berkshire County District Attorney. This means South County, Mid-County and North County people should come together to mark the ballot for Andrea Harrington. This effort will offset any write-in campaign and circumvent derailment efforts by the loser of the primary.

It takes the confluence of policymakers and practitioners throughout the county to introduce much needed reform. Andrea Harrington is part of the solution, not the problem. Other people recognize it and voted for her in the primaries. I did. County and state officials have endorsed her and are ready to work with her.

Please remember to vote for Andrea Harrington for Berkshire County District Attorney on November 6th or in early voting.

Unless you are MAGA, raise your hand if you care about the Epstein file

Before the election, after Kash Patel, Pam Bondi, and other right-wing conspiracy theorists claimed that the FBI had the Epstein file but refused to release it because Bill Clinton and other Democrats were likely included, the MAGA drums were beating for raw meat.

Proposed high-density housing project for 546 Main Street

That Great Barrington has a housing shortage is indisputable—both affordable and market-rate housing. I think that every person on Mahaiwe Street is in agreement. I am concerned about the wholesale selling of our community to developers without input from us.

The MAGA debt bomb

We should be taking action to bring the national debt down, not giving away our treasure—and our future—to billionaires and large corporations.
