An election-day fable

In his letter Steve Farina of Great Barrington writes: "Andrea Harrington should be the next Berkshire County District Attorney."

To the editor:

Andrea Harrington Wins!
— September 4th, 2018  Berkshire County, Mass.

When faced with the daunting task of going head to head with two experienced prosecutors, Andrea Harrington accomplished what some would call unheard of.

The hearing went on for months, with multiple debates and presentation of evidence. The jury (about 20,000 Democrat and Independent Berkshire residents) heard all sides.

Two lawyers were arguing for Criminal Justice Reform (CJR), and one the status quo. One of the two CJR representatives  claimed more experience, one had greater energy, greater vision and a fresher perspective.
As for the status quo…well there was nothing new here – though he too claimed “experience”.

It obviously became clear to the 20,000 jurors that there was a need for Criminal Justice Reform, as the majority voted for those two lawyers.

The lawyer representing CJR who presented truly visionary ideas, vast knowledge, and superior energy won out.

Having claimed to have tried over 5,000 cases, the status quo lawyer was arguing his BIGGEST case to date. One might think he should have easily won, given his appointment, party affiliation, and all the evidence presented about his experience. He didn’t.

On September 4th, the jury of about 20,000 ruled and the verdict:

Andrea Harrington should be the next Berkshire County District Attorney.

Having lost the biggest case of his life – a career ending loss – there has been a file for appeal. His basis for the appeal? He didn’t really mean it when he said he wanted to be a Democrat.

Andrea Harrington won the case and handed the appointed DA the biggest loss of his 30-year career.

That speaks volumes.

Now it is time for the jury to DENY his appeal.

Just fill in the oval — no need to write anything, Andrea Harrington’s name is already on the ballot because the jury decided it.

Never forget January 6, what it was and was not

You must never allow yourself to believe lies when your own eyes have seen the truth—particularly when the truth is uncontrolled fury, rage, and murderous conduct.

Bracing for the next four years

I am sympathetic to all those who are nervous and have elevated anxiety and debilitating depression while facing the next four years. I hear you every day.
