Allen S. Rubin, 74, of Joseph Drive in Pittsfield passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 while at his winter home in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Born July 22, 1940 in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of David and Anna Goodman Rubin. He attended the former Searles High School in Great Barrington.
Allen was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1958 until being honorably discharged in 1966 having earned the rank of Corporal.
In 1957 Allen worked with his father David Rubin at David Hats Incorporated. In 1959 the business was moved from Great Barrington to Housatonic. The business continued until Allen and his wife Gloria purchased the building at 420 Park Street in Housatonic in 1972 and became the owner/operator of Housatonic Products, Inc., DBA Berkshire Products. Mr. Rubin also ran a local retail business in Great Barrington and Pittsfield with his wife Gloria from 1969 until 1982 under the name Wigwam Center Inc.
Mr. Rubin was a strong supporter of Berkshire Pulse: A Center for the Creative Arts. He was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots.
Allen is survived by his wife Gloria Klein Rubin with whom he would have celebrated his 52nd anniversary on April 13. He is also survived by his sons, Jeffrey Rubin and wife Stacie, and Eric Rubin and wife Lauren, his grandchildren, David, Jessica, Rebecca, Brian, Zackary and Corey Rubin, his brother-in-laws, Nelson Klein and wife Sherrie, and Cliff Klein and wife Susan as well as his nephews and nieces Brian, Amy, James, Evan and Liora Klein.
He was predeceased by his brother Harvey C. Rubin on December 20, 2005.
A service celebrating the life of Allen S. Rubin will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 10 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. Burial will be held at a later date at Ahavath Sholom Cemetery in Great Barrington.
