Alice Hitchcock, 81, of Great Barrington

Family and friends are invited to calling hours Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, followed by a graveside service at 12 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.

Alice Hitchcock, 81, of Great Barrington, passed away on October 29, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Lee on August 15, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Adam Bona and Dora (Albertazzi) Bona. She grew up in Lee and graduated from Lee High School in 1962. On February 2, 1965, she married Theodore Hitchcock Sr., and together they built a loving life in Great Barrington for 47 years.

Alice enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—from growing up on her grandparents’ farm to fishing with her husband and children. She loved gardening and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. She was known for her delicious pies and for canning the vegetables she grew. Alice also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and arts and crafts. She devoted much of her time to caring for her son Jeffery until one year ago.

Alice is survived by her son Theodore C. Hitchcock Jr. and his wife Brenda of Plainville, Conn.; her son Jeffery Hitchcock of Pittsfield; and her two beloved grandchildren, Mathew and Madison Hitchcock of Plainville, Conn. She is also survived by her sister Mary Palmer and her husband Richard; her brother Adam Bona and his wife Patsy; her sister Diana Wellington and her husband Albert; and her sister Cathy Williams. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband Theodore Hitchcock Sr. in 2012, her sister Joanne Gutmann, and her brother Francis Bona.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, followed by a graveside service at 12 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington.
