Alexandra Patricia Ann Haight (AKA Sandra), of Egremont, passed away peacefully at home on May 8, 12 days shy of her 90th birthday. She was born on May 20th, 1935, in Hartford, Conn.
A beloved mother of five, Sandra was a passionate advocate for peace and civil rights in the 1960s, serving as mentor and offering inspiration to countless creative and socially conscious young people. She continued to play such a role throughout the following decades.
Learning to cook in the farmhouse kitchen of her Russian grandmother, Sandra combined her natural culinary talent with her love of community in her own home and at Eisner Camp in Great Barrington, where she served as executive chef for many years.
Sandra will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, compassion, and razor sharp wit. She will perhaps be cherished most of all for her limitless capacity to love life, in all its forms, without judgment.
Sandra is survived by sons Christopher, Gregory, and Alexander, daughter Sydney, granddaughter Paris, grandsons Jack and Griffin, and great-granddaughter Willa. She is predeceased by her eldest son Roland.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
