Albert Theriault, 77, of Becket

He was last employed at Pioneers Dairy for seven years until retiring in 2000. He was chief of police in Becket from 1972 until 1976.

Albert E. Theriault Jr. of Becket, died Friday, Aug. 11, at his home. He was born in Fall River on Oct. 3, 1939, the son of Blanche and Albert Zlanski Theriault, and attended school in York, Maine.

He was an auto mechanic since the age of 16 and loved cars and trucks, especially his Toyota truck. He was a member for many years with the York Beach Fire Department and worked at the organic nursery (family-owned) in York. He loved the beach and met his wife, the former Diane Broga, at York Beach and they were married on Oct. 20, 1962. He worked for Lipton Oil in Pittsfield for 13 years as a diesel mechanic, Whitakers for one year and for the Berkshire Gas Company. He was last employed at Pioneers Dairy for seven years until retiring in 2000. He was chief of police in Becket from 1972 until 1976.

Besides his wife, at home, he leaves one son, Albert Theriault III, and wife Tammy of New Hampshire; one daughter, Jeanine Theriault Ackles, and husband Andrew of Maynard; and two grandchildren: Albert IV and Caleb Theriault. He also leaves eight siblings.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the North Becket Cemetery at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Smail officiating. A reception will be held at the Becket Federated Church immediately following. Please feel free to come and celebrate the life of Albert Theriault.
