Air quality alert from Great Barrington Fire Department

Although this smoke is "organic" in nature, there may be a concern for those that have respiratory illnesses or concerns.

Great Barrington — Important information on the status of the fire and air quality of the Great Barrington area. Smoke from the wildfire is hanging low in Great Barrington and area communities. Although this smoke is “organic” in nature, there may be a concern for those that have respiratory illnesses or concerns. We are advising those that may be impacted to stay indoors and keep the windows closed. Poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke can make allergies worse and cause respiratory infections especially for people with heart disease, asthma, and other lung diseases. We thank everyone for their cooperation. Great Barrington Fire Department.
