BUSINESS MONDAY: Adams Community Bank to open branch in Great Barrington

Adams Community Bank will soon be able to better serve its south county customers as it plans to open a full-service branch in the Barrington Plaza at 342 Stockbridge Road in Great Barrington, the former location of the Berkshire Eye Center.

Great Barrington — Adams Community Bank is planning to open its ninth full-service branch in town this fall. According to bank Senior Vice President of Communications Maureen Baran, the bank will open the branch at 342 Stockbridge Road, which is the former location of Berkshire Eye Center in Barrington Plaza.

“Opening this branch will further expand our footprint as we cover communities along the northern border with Vermont and extend southerly to Great Barrington,” Baran wrote to The Edge. “For years Adams Community Bank has enjoyed having residents of Great Barrington and the greater southern county as customers, but we did not have a physical location to serve them. This new location perfectly positions us to serve these customers better and to grow our customer base.”

According to Baran, the new location will be staffed with four full-time employees and one part-time employee. Baran wrote that the location will include an Interactive Teller Machine (ITM). “An ITM is a terminal that provides standard ATM functionality and allows customers to connect via video with our customer connect specialists during customer connect hours,” Baran wrote. “While on the line with one of our specialists, customers can process more complicated and sensitive transactions such as cashing checks, credit card payments, loan payments, and making cash and check deposits. ITMs allow us to provide convenient and accessible service when branches are not open.”

While the exact date for the branch’s opening has not yet been determined, the bank lobby’s hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Customer connect hours for the ITM will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
