A response to a Letter to the Editor from Stuart Hirshfield: Don’t fall for his attempt to castigate Jamie Minacci

Mr. Hirshfield was writing to "target" the chairperson of the board in an attempt to have her defeated in the upcoming Stockbridge town election. Don't fall for it.

To the editor:

What Mr. Hirshfield fails to acknowledge in his Letter to the Editor is the fact that the hearing for 37 Interlaken Road was a continuation of the process—in this session, the developer (represented by his attorney) was responding to recommendations made in the previous session. Additional meetings are scheduled for May 13 and 15 prior to the Stockbridge Select Board voting on the matter.

The attorney was making proposals of the various changes to the project, and the chair of the Select Board (Jamie Minacci) did what she has done previously: allowed people to speak briefly in favor or opposition. Mr. Hirshfield was writing to “target” the chairperson of the board in an attempt to have her defeated in the upcoming Stockbridge town election.

Don’t fall for it.

Jamie Minacci has done an excellent job the last three years—growing into the position of being a member of our governing town board. We do not need another person who has no governing experience at that level and who has made the campaign statement “I will tend to favor conservation, preservation and slow smart growth.” Since 37 Interlaken was first proposed in 2017, it appears as though eight years is too fast for her.

Had 37 Interlaken been approved back then, much of it would already have been built and the town would be receiving a lot of tax income that would help lower taxes for everyone paying them in Stockbridge.

Don’t fall for this blatant attempt to castigate Jamie Minacci. She has been open minded and has stated numerous times that she wants to do what is best of the town of Stockbridge—not just a select few.

Please vote for Jamie Minacci.

Berkshire Hills Regional School District’s shortcomings

The upcoming push to fund a new high school is focused on building something bigger and better while ignoring the fact that times have changed and that the goals must change as well.

Ms. Hritzuk’s recent Letter to the Editor regarding Stockbridge Town Meeting contains several inaccuracies

Ms. Hritzuk writes, "the meeting seemed designed to derail the citizen's position." I am aware of no reasonable basis for such an accusation.

Feeling disillusioned after attending my first Stockbridge Town Meeting

While I expected debate on Article 17 to be heated, I assumed that transparent and consistently applied rules would govern the meeting. What I observed instead was a concerted effort to put the citizens who submitted the petition at the grossest possible disadvantage.
