To the Editor:
I am writing to give you another perspective in the race for Berkshire County District Attorney: that of my family. I was recently knocking on doors in Pittsfield, conveying our message and vision for the office. A gentleman around my age answered the door and asked, “Just tell me about your family. Then I will decide.” Ok, I thought.
So here goes: Andrea and I have been married for 18 wonderful years. We have two amazing boys ages 12 and 7, a dog, and some fish. Most of you know me as the owner of the Public Market in West Stockbridge, or as a coach in Little League baseball and youth football, and as a major contributor to many local organizations. Andrea serves on the Richmond school board. She has served as a mentor to many young women.
The roots of Andrea’s family run deep in Berkshire County. Her family consists of hard-working men and women who share the same caring and giving spirit. Her parents had her at a very young age. They instilled a work ethic in her that is evident everyday and is so admired by myself and our children.
Her grandparents, Tony and Janet Blasioli, live in Pittsfield. Her grandmother, Mary Harrington, is among those who admire her deeply. Andrea is a Taconic High School, University of Washington, and American University Washington College of Law in Washington D.C. graduate.
Having young children, I can tell you that we have a personal, vested interest in this community that we love. We struggle, same as most young families, with the everyday challenges of daily living, as well thinking about the future for our kids. This is why, as a family, we decided that Andrea should run for the office of District Attorney. We believe that she can bring a fresh and innovative change to this office, which we think is sorely needed. I promise you that starting on day one, Andrea will bring that work ethic, enthusiasm, and tenacity to each and everyday.
I have enjoyed meeting so many people and hearing ideas and suggestions on how we can seek real justice for all in this community, at the same time pulling us out of the grips of this opioid crisis, being ultra tough on crime, as well as dealing with the many other challenges that lie ahead. Please join me and our family by voting on September 4th for Andrea Harrington for District Attorney. It’s time for change.
