A dose of reality for those living in the fantasy world of ‘alternate facts’

I know I am omitting dozens of things here. This is just a taste of what awake people are protesting and resisting.

To the editor:

I am encouraged to hear that an increasing number of Trump voters are waking up from their FOX comas. For those still living in a fantasy world of “alternate facts,” where the first 100 days of this presidency are a grand success, I offer a brief dose of reality:

The stock market is in chaos; the U.S. economy is shrinking ; inflation is rising; Trump’s promised tariffs have initiated a trade war that will, unquestionably, end in higher prices for all of us; Social Security is being carefully positioned to collapse from within; the Department of Education is near extinction; our beautiful National Parks and Forests are in the process of being transformed into drilling and logging sites; programs to support the most vulnerable are being abandoned so that billionaires can get richer; money is being stripped from research into cures for cancer and Alzheimer’s; ICE is deporting people into foreign slave labor prisons without proof of who they are; thousands of federal workers have lost their jobs without cause; the EPA is being destroyed so that corporations can freely pollute our land, air, and water; our neighbors and allies no longer trust us; the world has lost respect for us; the security of our most private information has been jeopardized; the agencies that oversee weather are being shuttered, so hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes will likely come with less warning; and Trump is defying court order, openly declaring that he is above the law.

I know I am omitting dozens of things here. This is just a taste of what awake people are protesting and resisting. For the sake of all those who love our country, I pray that those still “asleep” may move beyond their blind loyalty and start trusting their own eyes before it is too late.
