William “Bill” E. Goewey Sr., 61, of New Marlborough died Sunday April 30, 2017 at his home. Bill was born in Great Barrington on March 2, 1956 son of William T. and M. Constance (Fitzpatrick) Goewey and was the stepson to Frank Wolfe.

He was a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School class of 1974. Bill worked as a mechanic in his own shop, BG Repair. Bill was a retired member of the New Marlborough Fire Department, a member of Tri State Mopar, Old Yankee Street Rod Club and a Friend of Bill for 29 years. He loved muscle cars, the New York Yankees, the NHRA, drag racing, his rescue Rottweilers and taking trips to Maine.

Bill really enjoyed being home with his family and working on his 70’ Cuda in his free time.  Bill loved the holidays with his family around and loved going to watch his children and grandchildren participate in their sporting and school events.

Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debra (Ostrander) Goewey whom he married on January 4, 1975, father-in-law Ed Ostrander and mother-in-law Dorothy Ostrander; two sons, Bill Goewey Jr. and his wife Amanda and Shawn Goewey and his partner Susan; another daughter-in-law, Jennifer Goewey; one brother, Chuck Goewey; two step brothers, Daniel Wolfe and James Wolfe; one brother-in-law, Eddie Ostrander; two sisters, Judy Alden and Arlene Goewey; two step sisters, Joyce Linton and Cheryl Turnbough, one sister-in-law, Jane Goewey, one sister-in-law, Anna Washburn; four grandchildren, Isaiah, Emma, Olivia and Ava and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Bill was predeceased by brother, Bruce Goewey.

Funeral services for William “Bill” Goewey Sr. will be held on Thursday May 4 at 11 a.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington MA 01230 with the Rev. Jill Graham officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Bill’s memory may be made to either the New Marlborough Fire Department or New Marlborough First Responders in care of the funeral home.
