Janet M. Barrett, 79, of West Stockbridge died Thursday, July 6, at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in West Stockbridge on March 1, 1938, the daughter of Frank and Teresa (Frana) Selva. Janet worked at the former England Brothers Restaurant Store and Charles Baldwin and Son in West Stockbridge. Janet’s husband, Richard A. Barrett Sr.–whom she married in West Stockbridge on January 14, 1961–predeceased her on November 3, 1993.

Janet is survived by one son, Richard Barrett Jr. of West Stockbridge; daughter Teresa Eisenberg and husband Michael of West Stockbridge; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Janet was predeceased her daughter Bethanne Barrett; four brothers: Francis, Guy, Erminio and Anthony Selva; and six sisters: Elizabeth, Josephine, Mary, Irene, Virginia and Emma.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 15, at 11 a.m. in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in West Stockbridge. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Janet’s memory may be made to either the Saint Patrick’s Church Building Fund or the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Hinds visits pipeline site, urges reform of FERC and says Trump ‘gutting the EPA’

Tuesday, Jul 25 - State Sen. Adam Hinds: "If anybody's learned anything from this election, it's that elections have consequences – serious policy consequences. They are absolutely gutting the EPA at a rate that even the most pessimistic person would be surprised about right now." Hinds was also sharply critical of the state in allowing the pipeline project to move through the Otis State Forest, which is state-owned land ostensibly protected from development.
