In summer, less is more, Fiona recommends

My summer style is simple. It’s a T-shirt dress, side braid, espadrilles, a satchel bag … and sunscreen. Always wear sunscreen.

It all sounds great except for the shoes. What if you have to speed up walking across the street? What if you have to run to keep a child from walking off the sidewalk? What if you’re walking the dog and she suddenly sees a squirrel? How many extra ankles do you have?

    1. Liz says:

A true New York woman can run/prance/tap dance in heels, she’ll be alright:)

    2. Fiona says:

Harriet you raise a great point; running in heels ain’t easy and fortunately there are no kids for me to be chasing around just yet! One great trick I just learned for heels is shaving them down….the other is just to practice working in them. Regardless I would love to know what are your summer shoes of choice?

  2. Casey says:

I love wearing side braids! Its perfect for super hot days when you don’t feel like styling your hair or rainy days when your hair isn’t manageable. You have a great fashion sense. 🙂

    1. Fiona says:

Thank you Casey! Summer hair styling truly deserves a comic onto its own. I bet you look great with you side braid. Have a great start to summer. Love, Fiona

Is Black In The Berkshires the new white?

    Love the illustrations…

    1. Fiona says:

As a summer goth I find ways don black year round. Here’s a great article on rocking black in summer:

Fiona, are you Pam and Andys daughter?

    1. Fiona says:

      Hi C. Roselle,
      No I am not.

  5. Rachel says:

Thank you for including the sunscreen.

    1. Fiona says:

Dear Rachel. Thank you for grasping the main point of this article!

    2. Fiona says:

Say Rachel…are there any SPFs you swear by in summer…or year round for that matter? Hope you are having a great start to the season xo

      1. Rachel says:

Yes…I swear by Josie Maran Daily Moisturizer SPF 47. Year-round as well…because UV rays are harmful during every season. It is also all natural and chemical free- which is wildly important when selecting a sunscreen,
