James Turner, 70, of Lenox

Friday, Jul 7 - Jim moved to Lenox in the mid-1970s where he held several custodial positions including at the former Meadow Place Retirement Home, St. Ann’s Church, the Lenox Library and, most recently, the Old Heritage Tavern until he retired in 2015.

Richard Billetter, 84, of Lenox

Thursday, Jul 6 - An accomplished athlete, Richard achieved the remarkable by competing in all (40) Josh Billings triathlons to date; ran the Boston Marathon for several years, played golf regularly, cross-country skied, and loved canoeing the Housatonic River.

Brian Raftery, 58, of Lenox

Friday, Jun 30 - An accomplished musician, he played bass guitar and keyboards with area bands Teaser, the Jim Morrison Road Show, Synn, Mad Anthony and Uncle Salty.

James Ferris, 93, of Pittsfield

Friday, Jun 30 - Jim was employed as a toolmaker at General Electric for 23 years where he worked in the main tool room. He then taught machine shop at Taconic High School for 24 years until his retirement in 1989.

Ann Baumann Costa, 89, of Great Barrington

Wednesday, Jun 28 - Ann always believed that her greatest accomplishment and joy was taking care of her big family and walking hand in hand with Tony, admiring their beautiful yard.

John Scott Stiehle, 54, of Great Barrington

Wednesday, Jun 28 - After his air force service, John worked as a driller blaster for Pfizer Specialty Minerals in Canaan, Connecticut, and then as a caretaker at Stony Brook Farm for the last 19 years.

Joseph Simonetta, 50, of Lenox

Thursday, Jun 22 - He attended services at the Church on the Hill and was a volunteer at the church suppers. He also volunteered at the Guthrie Center in Housatonic.

Marjorie Cummings, 88, of Lee

Thursday, Jun 22 - She was employed as an operator for New England Telephone in its Lenox exchange for several years, worked at the former Windsor Mountain School in Lenox as a switchboard operator and bookkeeper, and was a cook and St. Mary’s Convent in Lee prior to her retirement.

Daniel Toomey, 91, of Lee, MassDOT surveyor

Wednesday, Jun 21 - While Toomey saw action at both the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, it was the fact that the peace treaty was signed in Tokyo Bay in 1945 aboard the very ship on which he was serving that he was most proud.

Lorraine Simonson, 98, of Lenox

Thursday, Jun 8 - A graveside service will be held on Friday June 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery in Great Barrington.

Marianne de Gersdorff, 74, of Alford
